Stop: error win xp partition magic
After creating a ntfs logical partition using partition magic pro 7.0 in Windows
XP I get an error every time I try to boot up my computer. Even when I try safe mode
I get a blue stop error screen that says:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer.
If this screen apears again, follow these steps:
DIsable or uninstall any antivirus, diskfragmentation or back up utilities. Check
your hard drive configuration , and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F
to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.(I don't know
how to do any of this from outside of windows but I tried to use a windows ME start
up disk and typed CHKDSK /f but is said it was a bad file name and all that crap)
Technical Information:
Stop: 0x00000024 (0x001901FD, 0x80E81230, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)
There are very important files on that computer. so formating the hard drive and
starting over is not an option for me. Please Help
re: Stop: error win xp partition magic
NTFS partition created by Partition Magic always detected as an error partition by XP. You can delete or reformat using FAT32 file system with Partition Magic Rescue Diskettes, or if you have not yet create it you can boot using your XP CD and choose to install. When ask where to install there will be an option to delete the partition then just cancel the installation.
re: Stop: error win xp partition magic
Hey yap. I tried the rescue disks and found the option to delete the partition in
the fdisk file but it asks me to enter the number of the partition to delete but
there is no number for the one that I want to delete.
re: Stop: error win xp partition magic
Look like you used the wrong floppy disk.
Rescue diskettes created by Partition Magic saved at two floppy disk, insert the first it will ask for the second, after that it will display the configuration of your disk just like Disk Management in XP. Just right click on the bad partition and choose delete option from the context menu.
One thing I forgot to ask is, Have you try to login from "Last known good configuration"?
Once you can login, try to restore you computer using "System Restore" wizard (Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tool - System Restore).
In case you can't choose one of the above option, boot from XP CD,
off course you need to configure your bios setting option to boot from CD first.
Good Luck!
re: Stop: error win xp partition magic
After switching to the correct floppy and using the PQMAGIC.EXE file. It is trying to tell me that there is only one partition, the one I had originally. I know that there should be another one because that was my original problem. the new one should be there and it should have an error. But ITS NOT THERE.
re: Stop: error win xp partition magic
What I can configure now is XP tried to merge both partition but failled if so your only chance is use your XP CD. Here is a link about repairing XP "http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm"
COSA NE PENSATE VOI? SECONDO ME L'ERRORE ME LO HA CAUSATO PARTITION FORSE LA PARTE CHE VOLEVO RIDIMENSIONARE ERA DA FRAMMENTARE...
DEVO ASSOLUTAMENTE RIPRENDERE I DATI CHE HO SU XP, E POI ANCHE SE A MALI ESTREMI VOLESSI FORMATTARE E ACCETTARE DI PERDERE TUTTO COME FACCIO VISTO CHE NN HO ACCESSO A XP???
