Correct method for re-moving and reinstalling Easy CD Creator (Article Number000929-0005)
Description:
The correct method of uninstalling and reinstalling Creator 4. The following will fix errors related to: install issues, engine initialization errors, API errors, update patches not running, old "file not found errors", older versions of the software interfering, cdr4dll.dll errors, "Create Instance" errors, "Can not create Creator" errors, etc.
This information applies to the following products:

This information applies to the following Operating System(s):
Windows 95, 98, ME, NT and 2000
Solution:
1. Please go to 'Start\Settings\Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs.' From here, please uninstall all Adaptec programs and remove all shared files.
2. Before rebooting, go to 'Start' and then to 'Find (Search) Files and Folders' and locate the following list of files. Search in the 'C:\' drive for the following and rename the extensions to " *.old" or possibly " *.rox":

3. (Windows 2000 only) Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files and remove the Adaptec folder.

***NOTE*** Always make a backup of your Registry before making any Registry modification.
5. Go to Start\Run and type "regedit." Click on the 'OK' button which will take you into Registry Editor.
6. Click on the plus sign "+" next to the "Hkey_Current_User" and then "Software."
7. Now, find the Adaptec folder and highlight it. Be sure to highlight only the Adaptec folder and press the delete key on your keyboard removing the Adaptec entry from registry.
8. Click on the plus sign "+" next to the "Hkey_Local_Machine" and then "Software."
9. Now, find the Adaptec folder and highlight it. Be sure to highlight only the Adaptec folder and press the delete key on your keyboard removing the Adaptec entry from registry.
10. Exit the registry editor.
11. Please reboot the system and login. If you are using Windows 2000, you must login as the 'Administrator.' Login names with administrative rights may not allow the software to install and/or function properly.
12. Make sure there are no other programs running in the background.
13. To check this, press 'Ctrl-Alt-Del' once, this will bring up the Task Manager.
14. End-Task on everything running in the background except "Explorer." Most computers will allow you to end-task on everything except "Explorer" but there may be some instances where you will need to leave a driver running in order for your system to function properly. If you encounter a driver that cannot be shutdown without causing adverse reactions, leave it running and end-task on the others. Please make sure that all utility and anti-virus programs are shut down.
15. Reinstall Easy CD Creator and perform a typical install into the default directory.
***NOTE*** Windows ME requires the install CD to be a minimum version of 4.02d. Windows 2000 requires the install CD to be a minimum version of 4.02. You cannot install 4.0 or 4.01 and upgrade to 4.02x.
16. If the version of Easy CD Creator you own is 4.02 go to step 18. If your version is older than 4.02 please download the 'ecdc_v402_dlx.exe' patch for the Deluxe version and 'ecdc_v402_std.exe' for the OEM version (or software that came bundled with your CD Recorder). Both files are at the following web site:

17. Please scroll down the page until you get to the Easy CD Creator section. Locate either the Deluxe or OEM version. Then select the language for the file that you wish to download. This will let you download the file 'ecdc_v402_dlx.exe' for the Deluxe version or 'ecdc_v402_std.exe'
for the OEM version.
18. Please download the 4.03a patch which is located at the following web site:
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/winupdates.html
19. Please scroll down the page until you get to the Easy CD Creator section. Select the link for the 4.03a patch which will download the file 'ecdc_v403a_up.exe.'
***NOTE*** If you are using Windows 95, please do not install the 'ecdc_v403a_up.exe' patch.
20. Please run the files in the following order without restarting:
a.) ecdc_v402_dlx.exe { or } ecdc_v402_std.exe
b.) ecdc_v403a_up.exe
You will be prompted to reboot when the 4.03a patch is complete. Please restart and test the software.
***Final Note*** When using this procedure before installing Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, it has been reported by other users, that a full install of the original version and an immediate uninstall following the above instructions may be required to clean up any loose ends left by upgrades.

Se nono si è acquistato un nuovo masterizzatore non è necessario passare dalla4.02 alla4.05
