appear a.. cause: <Bug:1507768 Installer fails when running on new Pentium
4 Processors Any platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the
Sun JRE and Symantec JIT will encounter this problem.
fix:
There are 3 possible workarounds:
1. Obtain patch 1507768 from Oracle Support Services via Metalink. See Patch
readme for patch installation details.
2.a) Copy the content of the Installation to a temporary folder on the
harddisk, rename ALL copies of file 'symcjit.dll'
2.b) Go to folder \install and edit file 'oraparam.ini' (attention: write protection)
and change parameter JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms16m - mx32m
2.c) Start the installation again
3. Use the Oracle Universal Installer that is shipped with Oracle 9.0.1 or
higher. See also <Note:131299.1 Oracle Installer 8.1.X Hangs on Machines with
Pentium 4 Processors
Altro workaround:
1. Create a temporary directory on your server.
2. Copy the entire contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary
directory created in step 1.
3. Search the directory structure created in Step 1 for the existence of the
filename symcjit.dll.
4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
5. Run the setup.exe from the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle
8.1.x and related products.
Per quanto riguarda al meeting mi riferivo ad ambedue i casi da te menzionati perchè come hai giustamente detto, la cosa non può essere che positiva per tutti anche se è difficile realizzare una simile impresa, (i mediocri sono fra noi...)
