English abstract (il resto è in italiano): An e-mail appeals for help on behalf of a child named Rachel or Rachele, who is said to be dying of leukemia. Her father, George Arlington, claims that AOL and ZDNet have teamed up to save her: they will track the forwarding of this appeal and will donate 32 cents for every time it is forwarded to at least three people. This is a hoax. There is no Rachele and most certainly AOL and ZDNet have no such e-mail tracking system. ZDNet Italy has denied its involvement in any "if you get enough sympathy we'll let you live, else drop dead" kind of scheme. Links with further information (mostly in Italian) are provided below.
